Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe sophomore Tom Watson was brilliant again on the hill Wednesday afternoon, striking out nine Tallahassee batters in seven innings of work, surrendering two runs, one of the earned, in a 14-4 Saints victory. Watson is now 2-0 on the season with a 0.47 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 19 innings of work.
Tallahassee struck first, scoring a run in the top of the third, but SF answered right back, putting up a four spot in the bottom of the inning and three more in the fourth for a 7-1 lead.
Santa Fe (7-1) was not done as they added two in the fifth, two in the sixth, and three in the third to expand their lead to 14-2.
The Eagles scored two runs in the top of the ninth to make the final score 14-4.
The Saints will look to continue their early season run when Pasco-Hernando State College comes to Gainesville on Friday, February 13 for a 3:00 PM game.
