Saints Fall to Central Florida in MFC Opener, 10-4

March 4, 2015

Ocala, FL – The Central Florida Patriots opened the Mid-Florida Conference season with a win at home over the Santa Fe College Saints, using a big six run eighth inning to do it.  The NJCAA #10 Saints fought back to even the score at four before dropping the game late.

Tom Watson started on the hill for SF and allowed two runs, one earned, in 5.2 innings.  He scattered eight hits and struck out two.  Call Graham took the loss, surrendering six runs on three hits and three walks in the eighth inning.

Santa Fe (13-5, 0-1 MFC) trailed 4-1 heading into the top of the eighth, but managed to put a three spot on the board thanks to an RBI double by Robbie Hanlon, and a two RBI single by Tyler Kinney.  SF's first run of the game came on a RBI single by Chandler Rodriguez in the fourth inning.

The Patriots broke the 4-4 tie in the eighth with six runs to pull away for the conference opening win.

Jared Shouppe was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored as the only player with multiple hits for the Saints.

Santa Fe will continue their three game series with the Patriots on Friday, March 6 in Gainesville at 3:00 PM.  Fans can watch the live broadcast at www.ihigh.com/santafesaints
