Lee Signs with UF; Allen with Liberty

November 18, 2015
Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe baseball sophomores Matt Allen and David Lee both made their college decisions last week during the early signing period, signing with Liberty University and the University of Florida, respectively.

Lee inked with a Florida Gator squad led by Kevin O'Sullivan that made an appearance in the 2015 College World Series, finishing third behind runner-up Vanderbilt University and champions University of Virginia.  They swept rivals Florida State University in the Super Regionals to qualify for the World Series.

The sophomore right hander played his freshman year at Florida International University before transferring to Santa Fe.  As a freshman, he finished with a 2-2 record, and a 4.42 ERA in 16 appearances, including five starts.  He struck out 39 in 36.2 innings pitched.

Catcher Matt Allen had a stellar freshman year at SF, leading the team in hitting with a .382 average (50-for-131), with 11 doubles, 38 RBI, a homerun, a .481 on base percentage, and just 14 strikeouts.  Behind the plate he threw out 30% of would be base stealers, while making just one error.

He joins a Liberty team that was 33-23 in 2015 under Head Coach Jim Toman, including 16-8 in the NCAA Division I Big South Conference.
