Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints turned a close game into a route on Wednesday afternoon, scoring eight runs in the final three innings to pull away from Lake Sumter State College for a 13-3 win.  Hugo Valdes led the five run ninth, homering to start things off, and fellow sophomores Robbie Hanlon and Tyler Kinney also added RBI hits to stretch out the lead.

Santa Fe (23-3, 5-0 MFC) trailed early 2-1, but tied it up in the fifth with a run on a squeeze bunt executed by Danny Hernandez.  They took the lead with a pair of runs in the sixth on a homer by Alex Goebel, and Chad Stockdale pulled off the squeeze for the second straight inning, laying down a bunt to score Wyatt Meisterhans, and Danny Hernandez singled in the third run of the inning.

SF plated insurance runs in the seventh, eighth, and ninth, providing plenty of support for relievers Chris Hopkins and Kevin Fuentes.  Alex Kennel pitched five strong innings for his third win of the season.

Hanlon finished the day 4-for-5 with three doubles, two runs scored, and two RBI. Hugo Valdes was 2-for-2 off the bench with two RBI, and Chad Stockdale was also 2-for-2 with a RBI.

The Saints will take a day off before returning home to battle Lake Sumter in the final game of their three game series on Friday at 3:00 PM.
