Former Saint Broxton Starts Opening Day for Brewers

Gainesville, FL – Former Santa Fe Saint, and member of the 2009 FCSAA Championship team and JUCO World Series runners-up Keon Broxton has made the opening day roster for the Milwaukee Brewers, and will start in centerfield when they battle Madison Bumgarner and the San Francisco Giants today on MLB Opening Day at 2:10 PM EST.  Fans can watch for free as part of's free game of the day.

Broxton hit .224 in Spring Training with two doubles and six runs scored, but displayed stellar defense and flashed his signature speed on the base paths, helping him earn a spot on the big league squad.

In his one year as a Saint in 2009, Broxton his .340 with nine doubles, four triples, 10 homeruns, and 38 RBI.  He hit one of the biggest homeruns in SF history when he belted a walk off blast against St. Petersburg College in the first round of the FCSAA Tournament, setting up the historical run to the JUCO World Series.

He continued his torrid pace at the World Series, hitting five homeruns and was drafted in the third round of the 2009 MLB Amateur draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks (pick 95).
