Box Score

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe's Troy Bacon was clutch on the mound for the Saints (33-5, 14-2 MFC) on Wednesday afternoon in a win over Seminole State College, tossing the final three innings in relief.  He fought out of a no out, two runners on jam in the seventh, retiring nine straight batters in all to secure his third win of the season.  Bacon struck out four without allowing a baserunner.  He has not surrendered a run (even inherited runners) since March 4, a streak of eight straight appearances.

Seminole State took an early lead in the first, homering off SF starter Trent Johnson for the 1-0 lead.  Santa Fe pushed a run across in the second to tie the score and took the lead in the fifth on a RBI triple by Cole Parks.

The Raiders managed a run in the seventh to knot the score at 2-2, but Troy Bacon entered from that point, completely shutting down any rally.  He lowered his ERA to 0.58 and now has 42 strikeouts in 31.1 innings pitched.  He's allowed just three runs total, two of them earned.

Matt Allen came up with the big hit for the FCSAA #1/Perfectgame.org #5 Saints in the eighth, tripling home the eventual winning run.  He later scored an insurance run on a wild pitch during an attempted intentional walk of Hugo Valdes.

Cole Parks was the lone Saint with multiple hits.  He finished 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored.

Santa Fe and Seminole will wrap up their three game series on Friday in Sanford at 3:00 PM.  SF will return home on Saturday to battle St. John's River State College at 1:00 PM.
