Baseball Drops First Game of Season at TCC

February 5, 2018

Tallahassee, FL – The FCSAA #5/Baseball America #14 Santa Fe Saints undefeated streak to start the 2018 season came to an end on the road Monday as Tallahassee CC dropped SF 5-2.  The win for TCC avenged the 8-7 come from behind win the Saints picked up in Gainesville on January 30.

The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead after four innings, but SF closed the gap with two in the top of the fourth.  Haydn Cano and Jarrett Pico knocked in the runs to make it a one run game.

TCC answered with two runs in the top of the fifth on a homerun by Logan Lacey and neither team scored the rest of the way.

Tyler Jones started on the hill for the Saints and went 3.2 innings before giving way to relief.

Garrett Mathes finished with two hits for SF and Cano and Pico each drove in a run.

The Saints will be at home on Wednesday, February 7 for a game against St. Petersburg College at 3:00 p.m.
