Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe Saints sophomore outfielder Austin Bodrato picked up where he left off on Wednesday against St. Petersburg College, blasting a homerun on the first pitch he saw Friday afternoon, giving him homeruns on two consecutive pitches over the last two contests. He would repeat the feat in the fifth, this time plating two runners on a three run shot.
Devin Hemenway started on the mound and earned the win with 5.1 innings of work. He struck out nine and allowed one run on five hits. Colt Mink, Chris Budden, Austin Bass, Will Whitlock, and Bodrato all pitched in relief, allowing a combined five runs.
The big inning for FCSAA #2/Baseball America #14 SF (13-2) came in the fifth when they scored seven runs on six hits, including homers from Andrew Eyster (4 on the season) and Bodrato (3).
Eastern Florida made things interesting with a four run eighth, but it was too little, too late as SF closed out the game an inning later.
Andrew Eyster had three hits on the day, including a homerun, two RBI, and two runs scored. Bodrato was 2-for-5 with two homeruns.
The Saints will take the weekend off and return to action on the road Monday, February 19 at Polk State College. First pitch scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
