March 9, 2018

Gainesville, FL – Brock Edge had the first cycle for the Santa Fe Saints since 2009 on Friday afternoon against Kalamazoo Valley CC, leading the way for SF over the Cougars 13-5.  Nolan Malone was the last Saint to hit for the cycle when he did it against Monroe CC for the Saints FCSAA Championship team.

NJCAA #5/FCSAA #2 Santa Fe (22-4, 3-0 MFC)  lead throughout, scoring four runs in the first inning and never looked back.  The two teams traded single runs in the second and third and SF added one run in each of the fourth and sixth innings to go ahead 8-2.

In the seventh Edge tripled in a run, Cade Westbrook doubled one home, and the other scored on a sacrifice fly.  They added two insurance runs in the eighth on a deep homerun by Cande.

Cande finished the day just a double short of the cycle, going 3-for-5 and drove in five runs. Edge was 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI to go with his cycle.  Andrew Eyster and Mikey Navarrete had three hits each and Bo Seccombe had two hits and two runs.

Michael Paul earned the win on the hill with three innings pitched in relief.
