Leesburg, FL – The NJCAA #2/FCSAA #4 Santa Fe offense continued their torrid pace on Wednesday afternoon in Leesburg, putting up another double digit effort in a 10-6 win over Lake Sumter State College. The victory is the eighth in a row for the Saints (31-6, 12-2 MFC) and their fourth in a row with double digit runs. They now have scored 10 or more runs in 14 contests this season, including seven of their last eight games. During their eight game win streak they have scored 83 runs.
Mitch Campion started on the hill for SF Wednesday and did enough to get the win, tossing six innings, allowing four runs while striking out seven. Tyler Jones tossed two innings in relief and Garrett Mathes threw a clean ninth inning to wrap up the win.
Santa Fe used a big three run first innings and a five run fifth to build their lead before holding off a late rally by the Lakehawks.
The first three hitters in the Saints lineup combined for 11 of the 18 total SF hits. Andrew Eyster lead the way with four hits and two RBI, Mikey Navarrete was 3-for-6 with a double and a RBI, an Garrett Mathes was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI. Jarrod Cande and Kyler Marquis had two hits each.
