The Saints move forward as they defeated Florida Southwestern State College Buccaneers at the Florida College State Activities Association state baseball tournament Friday May 10 at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland.

Stellar pitching was the story, with Saints' Micheal Paul and Tyler Jones leading the charge in the hard fought victory. "Michael and Tyler were both awesome tonight", stated Saints head coach Johnny Wiggs.  "Michael really mixed his pitches well and worked out of a big jam in the sixth.  Tyler had a real good fastball and slammed the door the last three innings."

The Buccaneers struck first with their only run in the sixth frame.  The Saints scored two runs in the seventh inning and had four total hits for the game.

"We didn't do a lot offensively but make the most of some walks and errors by FSW in the seventh", continued Wiggs. "In this tournament you have to sometimes win a game like this.  Hopefully we will be more offensive tomorrow night."

The win puts the Saints (38-15) against the winner of the Chipola/Miami Dade game, with first pitch scheduled for Saturday May 11 at 7 p.m.  This will be a livestream of the game at FCSAA Baseball Tournament.
