Gainesville, FL – LaBrian Shiflet came through with his second straight 20 point game on Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville, leading the Santa Fe Saints to a 74-70 win over the Blue Wave. Shiflet finished with 21 points five days after going for 25 against St. Petersburg College. The win was the 250th of Coach Chris Mowry's head coaching career, making him 250-130 in 12 plus years at the helm of the Saints.
Santa Fe (8-10, 1-0 MFC) led 36-29 at the half, 12 of their points coming on three pointers, with Shiflet scoring nine.
FSC-J picked up the pace in the second half, but the Saints proved to be too much down the stretch. Shiflet made four straight free throws down the stretch, and SF scored 18 total from the free throw line as part of their Mid-Florida Conference opening win.
The Saints will continue MFC play with a match-up against FCSAA #3 Daytona State College in Gainesville on Wednesday, January 13 at 8:00 PM. Fans can watch live at www.santafesaints.com/saintssportsnetwork
