Come Back Falls Just Short Against Central Florida, 86-79

February 3, 2016

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints ran into a buzz saw in the form of Brandon Tabb on Wednesday evening in Gainesville, as Tabb nailed eight three pointers and 33 points to lead the College of Central Florida to a 86-79 win over SF (12-13, 3-3 MFC).  SF took the first match-up between the two teams in Ocala on January 16, 79-78.

CF (20-6, 4-2 MFC) led by as many as 17 in the first half, and 16 in the second half, but the Saints never quit, storming back to get within four with just under four minutes to play.   They weren't able to come up with the big possession to get all the way back in it, and Central Florida made their free throws down the stretch to pick up the win.

Tabb led all scorers with his 33 points, Santa Fe's Ty Birts finished with a double double, scoring 20 to go with 10 rebounds, LaBrian Shiflet had 17 points, all in the second half, Benjy Dumornay had 12, and Alex Brown 10.

The Saints will play a non-conference game on Monday, February 8 against TAAG Academy at 7:00 PM.
