Gainesville, FL – The College of Central Florida Patriots came out on the winning side of things Saturday evening in Ocala, defeating the Santa Fe Saints 82-75. David-Lee Jones had an outstanding game for the Saints, scoring 28 points on 11-of-19 shooting with seven assists.
CF slowed the Santa Fe offense in the first half, holding the Saints to just 29 points on 10-of-31 shooting.
SF (14-10, 1-5 MFC) was much better in the second half, connecting on 47% of their field goals, but the Patriots were equally as effective on the offensive end, playing even with the Saints for the final 20 minutes 46-46.
"We struggled on both ends of the floor in the first ten minutes of the second half, when we really needed to be more consistent," said SF Coach Chris Mowry. "The guys played much better over the final 10 minutes but we still struggled to stop them in transition."
The Saints next game will be a non-conference match-up against Pasco-Hernando State College on Monday, September 6 at 7:00 PM in Gainesville.
