Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints started off slow on Saturday afternoon on day one of the Florida Colleges Shootout, but quickly turned it around with a 36-5 run in the first half to turn an 11-4 deficit into a 40-21 halftime lead.
Santa Fe's bench was a main catalyst in the victory, contributing 56 of the 89 points. Three players scored in double figures off the bench, including a team high 16 points from Brady Fernandes. Alsean Evans had 10 points in a reserve role, and Sam Brown added 10. Starter Darrell Jones had 13 points and eight rebounds.
The Saints (7-5) will continue in the Florida Colleges Shootout on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. against Broward College. The game can be seen live on the Saints Sports Network.
