Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe bats came alive in game one of a double header against Hillsborough CC on Thursday in Tampa as the Saints pounded out double digit hits in a 10-2 win over the Hawks. HCC rebounded in the nightcap, defeating SF 2-1 behind a strong pitching performance from Megan Chaplow.
Autumn Green was solid in the circle for the Saints (6-8) in the first game, surrendering just two unearned runs. Santa Fe gave her plenty of runs, plating 10 runs to force the five inning mercy rule.
Santa Fe and Hillsborough each had six hits in game two, but SF left nine runners on base in a 2-1 defeat. The Hawks plated two runs in the first off Saints starter Paola Flores, but Flores tossed shutout ball from there to keep SF in it. Santa Fe scored one run in the sixth on a wild throw by the Hawks and had the tying run in scoring position in the seventh, but couldn't come up with the game tying hit.
Adrix Paradiso Ramos and Sarah Ortiz had two hits each.
The Saints will get back after it on Saturday in Avon Park against South Florida State College at 1:00 and 3:00 PM.
