Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (17-17, 4-4 MFC)needed to get a pair of wins in the Mid-Florida Conference to keep pace in the early part of the conference season, and they did just that, taking two convincing games from Florida State College-Jacksonville on the road, 9-2 and 7-2.
SF exploded for eight runs on four hits in the top of the first inning of game one to essentially put it away right from the get go. Adrix Paradizo-Ramos dealt the big blow, clearing the bases with an RBI double.
Autumn Green had more than enough runs to work with in the circle and held the Blue Wave to just two runs on six hits and one walk. She struck out five and threw 83 of her 121 pitches for strikes.
FSC-J scored first in game two, plating a run in the bottom of the first, but the lead was short lived as Keysha Gordon tied the score in the top of the second with a two out RBI single.
The score remained 1-1 until the top of the fifth when the Saints broke the game open with five runs on three hits. Brashella Keys put the exclamation point on the inning, blasting a three run homer to give SF some insurance runs.
Paola Flores went the distance in the circle for the Saints, scattering seven hits and striking out two.
Carroll and Ki Vega had two hits apiece, and Keys was 1-for-3 with a homer and three RBI.
The two victories move Santa Fe up to a tie for third in the Mid-Florida Conference.
Santa Fe will welcome Daytona State College (23-11, 5-4 MFC) to Gainesville on Tuesday for a double header against the Falcons at 2:30 and 4:30 PM.
