Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe College scored 18 runs on Saturday afternoon in Leesburg against lake Sumter State College, but only came away with one win, moving to 22-13 overall and 6-6 in the Mid-Florida Conference. It looked like SF may come away with a sweep but four unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth inning by Lake Sumter gave the Lakehawks a 10-9 win and a double header split.
The Saints won the first half of the double dip 9-5, paced by a big eight run third inning. Adrix Paradizo-Ramos doubled home three runs in the inning, one of seven Saints hits in the frame. That made it a 9-1 game and Santa Fe held on to that lead for the four run win.
Kaylan Tucker picked up the win with five runs pitched.
In the second game the Saints maintained a 9-6 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth. LSSC scored a run in the fifth and then completed the comeback with three in the sixth.
The Santa Fe offense pounded out 15 hits, lead by a two homerun effort from Cassandra Garcia. Garcia had three hits and three RBI to go with her pair of dingers. Shailynn Morales finished with two hits and also homered.
The Saints will host Daytona State College on Thursday, March 30 at 2:30 and 4:30 PM. Both games will be broadcast at www.santafesaints.com/saintssportsnetwork
