Gainesville, FL – Kaylan Tucker and Jamie Adams were lights out on the mound Friday afternoon, combing to allow just one run in two wins over South Florida State College in Gainesville.
Tucker tossed the first game, blanking the Panthers over seven strong innings, scattering four hits and striking out five.
Emily Yakel provided the early runs for the Saints, blasting a two run first inning homerun. SF (11-5-1) added two more runs in the third on RBI hits by Bailee Moll and Kaitlyn Bennett, and Tucker took care of the rest.
Game two started similarly to game one, with Yakel getting Santa Fe on the board first. This time she barely missed another homerun, doubling off the fence to score a pair of runs. Haissette Escudero doubled later in the inning to make the score 3-0.
In the fourth Sophia Negron hit a sacrifice fly to score Raelye Rouw and in the sixth Moll doubled home a run and Yakel struck again, doubling home two more runs.
Adams picked up the win in the circle with 5.2 innings of work and Tucker pitched the final 1.1 innings to earn a save, entering the game when the score was 4-1.
Yakel finished 4-for-6 on the day with a homerun, two doubles, and six RBI. She now has a team high 19 RBI through 17 games. Bailee Moll also had a nice day at the plate, finishing 3-for-6 with a double, three runs scored, and two RBI.
The Saints will be back at it tomorrow, February 17 for a double header at home against St. Petersburg College starting at 1:00 p.m.
