Gainesville, FL – It wasn't the Santa Fe Saints day on Thursday as they fell in back to back game to Lake Sumter State College, each game decided by three runs.
The Lakehawks got to the Saints early in game one and lead 5-0 after two innings. They added an insurance run and lead 6-0 heading into the sixth. Three straight hits in the bottom of the sixth by Kaitlyn Bennett, Bailee Moll, and a two run homerun by Emily Yakel (6) cut the lead in half.
Santa Fe couldn't get anything going offensively in the seventh and fell 6-3.
Game two saw the Lakehawks score two runs in the first inning that was answered by the Saints on a RBI hit by Bailee Moll in the bottom of the inning.
Kaylan Tucker settled in and held LSSC in check until the fifth when they plated three on a RBI double and a SF error.
Santa Fe moves to 25-14-2 overall and 5-5 in conference play. Lake Sumter is now 6-4 in the MFC, moving up to third place, one game ahead of the Saints.
SF will host a non-conference double header with Georgia Military College on Saturday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m.
