Saints and Split with Daytona State

Daytona Beach, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (26-19-2, 6-8 MFC) split a road double header with Daytona State College on Thursday afternoon, taking the first game 4-3 before falling in five innings 8-0 in the night cap.
Emily Yakel was the hero in game one, knocking in the eventual winning run in the top of the seventh to break a 4-3 tie. 
Kelly Bennett opened the scoring with a two RBI double in the first but the Falcons answered with three runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead.
SF tied the game in the fifth when Bailee Moll was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The rally was complete in the seventh with the RBI single from Yakel.
Saints starting pitcher Kaylan Tucker was superb after a rough first inning, holding DSC at bay to open the door for the rally.  She scattered just four hits over the final six innings, all singles.
Kelly Bennett finished 2-for-4 with two RBI, and Emily Yakel was also 2-for-4
Game two wasn't meant to be for the Saints who fell 8-0 in five innings.
The Saints will be home next Tuesday, April 3 when Seminole State College comes to Gainesville for a 2:30 p.m. double header.
