Former Florida Gator softball standout Lindsay (Norfleet) Fico has accepted the head softball coaching position at Santa Fe College.
"We are extremely excited that Coach Fico has accepted this position and will be joining our athletics staff," said SF Director of Athletics Jim Keites. "She is a teacher of the game, strong on fundamentals and is well respected among her peers."
Fico, whose maiden name was Norfleet, has coached travel softball teams since graduating from UF in 2006. She played under Karen Johns her first three years at UF and under present Gator Head Coach Tim Walton as a senior.
"I am so excited and proud that Coach Lindsay Fico is the new head coach at Santa Fe College," said Walton. "She is going to bring great passion, energy and detail to student-athletes every single day. Congratulations to Santa Fe College on this great hire."
Coach Fico said she is anxious to get started. "I am extremely excited about the opportunity to coach the game I love at Santa Fe College! Softball has been a huge part of my life and has helped shape me into the person I am today. I look forward to being a part of this program's continued growth and success. I promise to use my invaluable experience as a student-athlete at the University of Florida to help encourage these young ladies to not only excel academically, but also be a force to be reckoned with on the field."
The Saints will begin their fall practice season soon with the 2019 regular season set to open January 25, 2019.
