PALATKA, FL – The Santa Fe Saints scored 22 runs and collected 24 hits on the day in a doubleheader sweep over St. Johns River State College in Palatka Saturday afternoon by scores of 9-6 and 13-11.

Cameron Trehy led the way with five hits in nine at bats including two homeruns and eight runs batted in. Adriana Garip and Donnie Gobourne each had four hits on the day while Emily Yakel chipped in with three hits.

"Cameron was the leader in the box today," said SF head coach Lindsay Fico. "She hit very well in both games and the team fed off her positive energy."

In the opener, the Saints saw a 4-0 lead vanish as the Vikings scored six times in the third inning to take the lead. The Saints put up four of their own in the fifth inning and one more in the seventh for the final margin of 9-6.

"We have proven that we can come from behind without losing focus on the end goal," said Fico. "We overcame some mental mistakes and made the plays when we had to."

The Vikings took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two, but the Saints scored five runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and three more in the sixth to ice the win.

Tihana Zupanic (4-4) got the win in both games.

"We had to use the whole pitching staff to pull out these two wins," said Fico. "Donnie (Gobourne) and Ti gave us some of the best innings thus far. They handled themselves with confidence under pressure."

SF (18-18, 6-4 MFC) have won five of their last six games and will host Seminole State College for a doubleheader at SF on Tuesday with game one scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
