Four Santa Fe College softball players were selected to All Mid-Florida Conference teams at the conclusion of the 2019 regular season.
Garip, who anchors third base for the Saints, had a .349 batting average. She scored 31 runs, nine doubles, four home runs and 30 runs batted in. Outfielder Trehy also had a great season with a .338 batting average, 19 runs scored, 11 doubles, three triples, eight home runs and 43 runs batted in.
"Adriana and Cameron both had stellar years at the plate," stated Saints head coach Lindsay Fico. "Their progress and consistency through the season was something to be proud of – we wouldn't have won as many games without their leadership in the box."
Gobourne and Yakel earned places on the MFC Second Team with impressive numbers as well. Gobourne, an outfielder and pitcher, had a .349 batting average with 25 runs scored, five doubles, four home runs, 29 runs batted in and 17 stolen bases in 20 attempts. Catcher Yakel had a .266 batting average, 25 runs scored, five doubles, 10 home runs and 29 runs batted in. She has signed with Lynn University to continue her softball and academic career.
Coach Fico says "Donnie had to wear many hats this season. She grew up a lot throughout the year, especially when we hit conference play. I look forward to her continued growth next year." She continued, "Emily was a mainstay for us behind the plate and she handled the tough task well. Hitting 10 home runs is no small feat and a few of them were game winners! I'm glad she received the recognition from the conference she deserved."
Under Coach Fico's first year at the helm, the Saints posted a 23-28 season record which includes a postseason appearance.
