SAINTS LOSE CLOSE CONTEST TO GULF COAST, 74-69
Marianna, FL – Kayla Lovett nearly led the Santa Fe Saints to an upset of Gulf Coast State College on Saturday afternoon, scoring 20 points despite suffering an ankle injury the day before against Chipola.
Santa Fe (2-2) kept the score close in the first half and went to the locker room trailing by just two, 30-28. The Commodores slowly stretched the lead to eight with five minutes to go. The Saints chipped away and trailed by five with a minute to go when Lovett nearly made it a one possession after a steal, but rimmed out a three and the put back also barely missed, sealing the victory for Gulf Coast.
Karrah Johnson finished with nine points and nine rebounds, and Ashley perry had eight points and four steals.
The Saints will head back out on the road Friday, November 14 for a game in Ocala against St. Petersburg College at 4:00 PM.
