Gainesville, FL – The FCSAA #2 Gulf Coast State College Commodores (2-0) came away with an 80-56 win over the Santa Fe Saints (1-1) on Halloween Day in Gainesville, turning a seven point game in the third quarter into a 24 point win. They outscored the Saints 22-12 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
The Commodores size forced a lot of outside shots from the Saints who shot just 25.8% from the field and 17% from the three point line (4-for-23). A big positive for SF came at the free throw line where they made 20-for-24.
Sonya Franklin, coming off a 30 point effort on Friday night, scored a team high 18, and Ari Emanuel-Wright had 15 a night after scoring 25 in her collegiate debut.
The Saints will take a few days off before returning to the court on November 6 at home against Eastern Florida State College at 4:00 PM.
