Daytona, FL – The FCSAA #10 Santa Fe Saints improved to 2-0 in Mid-Florida Conference play on Wednesday evening in Daytona, defeating the #9 Falcons of Daytona State 78-67. The win moves SF to 11-8 on the season and is their third win in a row.
The Saints, ranked one spot below DSC in the latest FCSAA poll, led 41-36 at halftime, and the game remained tight through the second half.
With the game on the line, and SF clinging to a small lead late in the fourth quarter, the Santa Fe free throw shooters came up big, making 8-of-10 down the stretch to seal the game.
Janasia Law led a balanced scoring effort with 15 points for the Saints, and Julie Fournier, Ivana Boyd, and Stephanie Jackson had 14 points each.
Santa Fe held the Falcons to 35% shooting from the field and outrebounded DSC 43-36.
The Saints will be on the road again on Saturday against Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne at 2:00 p.m.
