October 1, 2015

Gainesville, FL – Kaylin Powell and the FCSAA #1/NJCAA #5 Santa Fe Saints bounced back from their defeat on Tuesday in a big way, taking their match against Lake Sumter State College in straight sets on Thursday night in Gainesville.  Powell finished the match with 10 kills and a team high four blocks.

Lake Sumter gave the Saints (15-3, 3-1 MFC) a few problems in the first set, but SF managed to pull away for the 25-19 win after a slow start.  Santa Fe found their rhythm in the second set, cruising to a 25-10 victory, and capped the straight set win with a 25-14 win in set three.

As a team the Saints hit .353 and totaled 40 kills.  Nadine Williams matched Powell's 10 kills to lead SF in that department.  Farah Rajaee was back in form with 21 assists and a .512 set percentage.

Outside hitter Sheyanne Sullivan showed some added dimension to her game, leading the team with nine digs.

Next up for Santa Fe is a road match against the College of Central Florida on Tuesday, October 6 at 6:00 PM in Ocala.  The Patriots currently sit atop the MFC standings, and are defending co-champions of the MFC along with SF.
