Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints were locked in on Thursday night in their Panhandle Conference opener, defeating Pensacola State College in four sets.
Santa Fe pulled away in each of the first two sets, winning 25-17 and then a convincing 25-13. Pensacola (3-4, 0-1 PC) didn't give in and forced a fourth set with a 25-16 set three victory. Midway through the fourth set the Saints regained their footing and pulled away down the stretch for a 25-18 win, securing a big home conference win.
"It's been a crazy ride, but we took the momentum from last weekend into tonight," said SF Coach Nick Cheronis. "Leah Wilcox was really a rock for us in all areas."
Santa Fe (3-9, 1-0 PC) will try go for two conference wins in a row when they host Gulf Coast State College on Friday, September 22 at 7:00 p.m. The match can be seen live on the Saints Sports Network.
