Gainesville, FL – The Florida State College at Jacksonville Bluewave (10-3, 4-0 PC) came out on top Friday afternoon in a battle of the top two teams in the Panhandle Conference, defeating Santa Fe College 3-2.
Despite the match going five sets, just one was close in terms of score. The first set was a 25-23 nail biter win for the Saints (5-10, 3-1 PC), but the remaining sets were no closer than an eight point margin for either team. Once one team grabbed the momentum, they took it and pulled away for the wins.
"We played well in spurts, but against good teams you need to play well all the time," said SF Coach Nick Cheronis. "Hopefully we learned that tonight."
There will be no rest for the weary as SF takes to the court at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30 against South Florida State College and again at 4:00 p.m. against Polk State College.
