Wilcox Leads Saints to 3-0 Victory Over Pensacola State

October 13, 2017

Pensacola, FL – Santa Fe freshman outside hitter Leah Wilcox accounted for 11 kills in the Saints straight set victory over Pensacola State College Friday night, leading SF (8-12, 4-1 PC) to their fourth Panhandle Conference victory of the season.

Wilcox is second on the team in kills with 136, just behind Sterling Williamson's 155. Williamson and Aspen Dangren chipped in with seven kills a piece.

Defensively Hannah Rodriguez led the way, digging 17 balls to help stifle the Pirate attack.  Kaylee Herring made her presence felt as well and earned praise from Coach Nick Cheronis.

"It was a gritty win on the first night of a tough back to back road trip in the Panhandle," said Cheronis.  "Everyone contributed, especially the bench play.  Kaylee [Herring] came in and gave us a huge lift."

The Saints two day swing through the northwest part of the state will continue on Saturday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Gulf Coast State College
