Santa Fe Saints volleyball team started the season in fashion with a 25-21, 25-15, 25-16 win over Lake Sumter.
The Saints were led by a trio of outside hitters each of whom had 10 kills. Leah Wilcox hit .588, Aspen Dangren hit .389 and Maggie Mathews hit .316 to lead all attackers.
"Leah, Aspen, and Maggie were outstanding tonight anchoring our left side attack. If they can keep up that performance, we are going to be tough to beat", said head coach, Nick Cheronis.
Local Gainesville product Jenna Wiggs chipped in 10 digs. The Saints jumped out to early leads in sets one and two, but had to hold on in set one to close it out.
"One of our goals is to compete on a consistent basis and that is something we still need to work on", said Coach Cheronis.
The Saints resume play at home on Friday at the Campus USA/Santa Fe Saints Classic when they take on Gulf Coast State at 7:00pm. For more details please go to
