Saints Volleyball Opens Campus USA/Santa Fe Classic with Win

Santa Fe volleyball defeated Gulf Coast State to go to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 at the Campus USA/Santa Fe Classic by the scores 25-21, 25-20, 25-11.

 

The Saints were paced by sophomore outside hitter Aspen Dangren with 13 kills and hitting .478.

 

"Aspen was a difference maker for us, especially in a match where we committed so many errors", said Head Coach Nick Cheronis. "I give a lot of credit to Gulf Coast State with their scrappy play that forced us into some really uncomfortable situations. One more learning experience that will only help us tomorrow".

 

The Saints hit .344 for the match with Leah Wilcox and Brooke Ruud chipping in 10 kills each.

 

Play continues tomorrow with the Saints hosting Palm Beach State at 10:00 am followed by Daytona against Gulf Coast at 12 noon and Palm Beach against Gulf Coast at 2:30 pm. The Saints will take on Daytona at 4:30 to close out the two day tournament.
