GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Santa Fe College has selected Chanda Stebbins to be the college's new Director of Athletics, after predecessor Greg McVey accepted the role of Director of Athletics at Kansas City Kansas Community College. 

Stebbins recently completed her 21st season as the Head Coach of SF women's basketball, and the program's winningest coach surpassed 300-career wins during her tenure with the Saints. The former two-sport student-athlete at the University of Florida (volleyball and women's basketball) and longtime Gainesville resident now sets her sights on a new leadership opportunity, becoming the first female Director of Athletics in SF history. 

"Chanda Stebbins is a servant-leader who leads by example, and she has a tremendous amount of institutional knowledge that will serve the department well," expressed SF's Vice President Dr. Naima Brown. "Stebbins has first-hand knowledge of what coaches want and need from an athletic director, and has proven herself to be a champion for student-athletes and staff. She knows the SF alumni, is well-connected and active in the community, and is highly respected in Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Administrative Affairs at SF."

Upon Stebbins' transition to Director of Athletics, effective May 1, SF Athletics will immediately begin its search for a new Head Women's Basketball Coach.

"I am very humbled by this opportunity, and excited to make a difference at a new level," stated Stebbins. "It will certainly be hard to 'retire' from coaching as I have so enjoyed the sweat, grind, and wins, but this next chapter promises to be even more exciting and a new challenge. I am thankful to our many alumni, fans, colleagues and supporters who have contributed to the success of our women's basketball program, and I look forward to all that is to come in athletics at SF."
