Alumni Spotlight: Corey Braun and Josh Hogue
Two former Saints have been drafted professionally during the 2025 MLB Draft held in Atlanta, Georgia

A pair of 2023 Saints are now the most recent players to have their names called at the MLB Draft.
Corey Braun was selected in the 8th round (230th pick) by the Athletics. The Left-Handed Pitcher from Seminole, Florida played at Charleston Southern before transferring to Santa Fe for the 2023 season. Braun was key to their successes, making 12 starts in 13 total appearances, posting a 7-1 record in 64.1 innings while striking out a team high 76 batters.
In his last postseason outing, Braun went 6.0 innings, allowed 5 hits, three walks, three earned runs and six strikeouts in the Saints 5-4 victory vs State College of Florida. Braun received First Team Mid-Florida Conference honors and signed to play at Ole Miss in 2024.
Braun did not pitch for Ole Miss in 2024 and transferred back to his home state to suit up for the University of South Florida in 2025. Braun was one of the top arms in the American Athletic Conference, receiving an All-AAC First Team selection as the starting pitcher.
Braun had a 3.71 ERA for the Bulls and was 8-4 appearing in 16 games. Opposing batters hit just .229 against Braun and struck out a total number of 97 times.
Josh Hogue was selected in the 15th round (pick 438) by the Miami Marlins. The corner outfielder is from North Palm Beach, Florida and went to Palm Beach Gardens High School before spending just the 2023 season at Santa Fe. Hogue led the team in many offensive categories, slashing .412/.481/.608 with 82 hits (22 for extra bases). Hogue ended 2023 on a nine-game hit streak and was named FCSAA Player of the Week (May 2nd), First Team Mid-Florida Conference, and First Team All-FCSAA.
Hogue then transferred to North Carolina State University, where he hit .322 in his two seasons with the Wolfpack. Hogue had a big 2025 season, accumulating 71 hits and a team best 18 doubles. Hogue also was tied for second on the team with 11 HRs.
Braun and Hogue have until July 28th to agree to sign with their teams.
