Alumni Spotlight: Nikolaos Noumeros
This week's Alumni Spotlight is Nikolaos Noumeros, a Saint from 2021-2023!
This week's Alumni Spotlight is Nikolaos Noumeros. The 6'6" forward from Czech Republic played for the Santa Fe College Saints during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons, becoming one of the program's most well-rounded and dependable players in recent years.
In his first year as a Saint, Noumeros appeared in 20 games and started 14, averaging 7.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting a team-best 53.7% from the field. His efficient play and steady presence helped lead the Saints to a Central Conference title, and he was named Second-Team All-Conference while also earning NJCAA Central Conference All-Academic honors.
In his second season, Noumeros elevated his performance across the board. Starting in 27 games, he averaged 11.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game, while shooting nearly 50% from the floor and 32.4% from three-point range. A force on both ends of the court, Noumeros added 29 steals, 26 blocks, and six double-doubles across the season. He led the Saints in rebounding, ranked fourth in the FCSAA, and earned First-Team Central Conference All-Conference honors. Over his two-year career at Santa Fe, Noumeros totaled 452 points.
For his third season, Noumeros transferred to Francis Marion University. Appearing in 19 games for the Patriots, in just 12.1 minutes per game, he averaged 3.5 points and 2.5 rebounds, while shooting 71.1% from the free-throw line. Coaches at FMU described Noumeros as "one of the best junior college players in the country," praising his work ethic, basketball IQ, and high academic standing.
This past year Noumeros spent his final season of collegiate eligibility at Wayland Baptist university, an NAIA school located in Plainview, Texas. Noumeros played in 23 games this season and averaged 7.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 43.8% from the field and 35.6% beyond the arc.
Noumeros has now signed his first professional contract with SK Slavia Praha Basketball in the Czech Republic, officially beginning his professional basketball career. His journey from Santa Fe College to professional basketball is a testament to his work ethic, skill development, and leadership on and off the court.
