Alumni Spotlight: Sterling Williamson
This week's Alumni Spotlight is Sterling Williamson who played Volleyball from 2016-2017!
Gainesville, FL
Williamson had a great volleyball career at Santa Fe and primarily played as an opposite hitter during her two years. She was named Freshman of the Year after her first season, and Player of the Year at the conclusion of her second season.
Williamson had over 500 kills in her career and hit at a .230 clip as a Saint. She also totaled 139 digs and 172 total blocks. Williamson and her team were FCSAA runners-up in 2016, clinching the programs first ever birth to the NJCAA National Tournament and finished fourth overall.
After graduating from Santa Fe, Williamson continued her volleyball career at Bethune Cookman University, she played for the remainder of her undergraduate years. Once she completed her degree in Health and Exercise Science, she moved across the pond to England, a move that opened countless opportunities both on and off the court. Williamson then began working towards her master's degree and played two year for the Essex Rebels.
She then signed with a volleyball agency and began her professional volleyball career, starting in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia playing for Team Kichlin. After that, she went on to play in Kosovo, and then in Greece, but has made stops training in both Germany and Switzerland.
Williamson mentions that "each season has brought unforgettable experiences, opportunities to travel the world, meet incredible people, and learn about so many cultures through the sport I love!"
She now resides in London, where she begins her career in the events industry after completing her master's program in Event Design and Management.
"While I've stepped away from volleyball for now, the sport will always be a part of me, and maybe you'll see me back on the court in London's semi-pro leagues in the future!"
