Santa Fe Athletics is this week's Santa Fe Saints UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Tuesday Teammate of the Week!

It was a busy week for Santa Fe College Athletics, with multiple events going on throughout the week.

On Monday, the Athletic Department hosted the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce in the Santa Fe College Gymnasium Lobby. Special thank you goes out to all assistant coaches who helped with set-up as well as our administrative assistant, Deigh Scroggie, for ensuring the event ran smoothly.

On Wednesday, Campus USA Branch Managers across North Central Florida were brought into the Gymnasium for leadership training, which included a student-athlete panel by representatives from Volleyball (Madison Howard, Kailyn Howard) and Women's Basketball (Aniyah Anderson, Taylor Hackett, Claudia Ordonez)

On Sunday, Santa Fe Men's and Women's Basketball hosted their Campus USA Basketball Clinic that was free to all Campus USA members and families. With over 90 campers in attendance, Santa Fe College student-athletes led them through drills to sharpen their skills in their agility, passing, dribbling, and shooting. Volunteers included De'Mya Adams, Aniyah Anderson, Audrey Hubbard, Jhalea Jackson, Kaziah Merritt, Claudia Ordonez, Isabella Spence, Lorianys Castanon Cruz, Zion McRae, Taylor Hackett, Blanca Garcia, Joel Harrison, Harvey Wilson, Jermichael Johnson, Tre Dubois, Jahari Simmons, Jake Schuh and Alex Pierre-Louis, as well as Women's Basketball Assistant Coaches James Henderson, Jaz Rollins, Wes Phillips, and Hannatu Tunga-Lergo.

Additionally, on Sunday Santa Fe Athletics was also present at Trinity Methodist Church's Trunk or Treat; passing out candy, tickets, and running games with hula hoops and a mini basketball hoop. Administrative Assistant Deigh Scroggie spearheaded all planning and operation, with a shoutout to Wyatt Tesar (Baseball) and Tripp Kimmel (Baseball Assistant Coach) for their help with the Trunk or Treat!

Finally, five student-athletes helped host a panel for Westside Christian school students. Selena Placide (Volleyball), Kyler Nowling and Wyatt Tesar (Baseball), Harvey Wilson and Moses Horne (Men's Basketball) answered questions on what it takes to be a student-athlete at the next level, what goes into preparation for their sport, and their goals outside of Santa Fe.

It was a great week of community involvement and helping students maintain a college going mindset!

UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine sponsors a "Teammate of the Week" selection from all five Santa Fe Saints sports teams. The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), the SF sport specific coaches, and the athletic director nominate deserving Saints for this weekly award.  Teammates of the week will embody the character qualities the SAINTS (Seek, Aware, Integrity, Noble-Minded, Thankful, and Safe) emphasize and value.  SF Student-Athletes who impact their team, community, classmates, and families for the better are the best candidates for this weekly award hosted by proud SF partner UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
