UF Ortho Teammate Selection: James Suarez
This week's Tuesday Teammate of the Week is James Suarez!
Gainesville, FL
James Suarez is this week's Tuesday Teammate of the Week!
Suarez enters his first season with Santa Fe Baseball in 2026. The 5'9 two-way player is from Miami, Florida and played at Westminster Christian School. The lefty has seen both time on the mound and at the plate this season.
Suarez has appeared in each of the Saints seven games this season, either seeing action in the outfield or toeing the rubber on the mound. He is positioned to be an everyday bat in the lineup while also having an arm that can help the Saints get out of tough innings and get Santa Fe back up at bat. Suarez has accumulated seven hits this season and 6 RBI's; half of those RBI's coming against Tallahassee State in a big 11-7 comeback win. He has tallied 5.1 innings in two appearances on the mound while hurling eight strikeouts.
Suarez has been a vocal leader not just on the field but in all team activities. He is someone who his teammates can look to in a time of need and is a teammate willing to lend a helping hand. He is pursuing a degree in Business and enjoys playing golf in his free time. Suarez played club for Kachi Baseball and was a state runner up in high school.
UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine sponsors a "Teammate of the Week" selection from all five Santa Fe Saints sports teams. The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), the SF sport specific coaches, and the athletic director nominate deserving Saints for this weekly award. Teammates of the week will embody the character qualities the SAINTS (Seek, Aware, Integrity, Noble-Minded, Thankful, and Safe) emphasize and value. SF Student-Athletes who impact their team, community, classmates, and families for the better are the best candidates for this weekly award hosted by proud SF partner UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
