Pagan earns FCSAA DI Pitcher of the Week
Matthew Pagan selected as the FCSAA DI Pitcher of the Week
Gainesville, FL
Matthew Pagan has earned FCSAA Pitcher of the Week for his start vs Hillsborough last Thursday. Pagan threw five scoreless innings vs the Hawks while striking out four. He walked none and let up two hits on the first two batters of the game before sending 15 out of 16 HCC batters back to the dugout. His final line was 5.0 IP, 2 Hits, 0 Runs, 0 BB, 4 K's as he earned the Win.
A dominant performance on the mound was aided by the Saints red-hot bats as Santa Fe only needed five innings to earn their first win in Citrus Conference Play, 10-0.
"Matt got off to somewhat of a slow start this spring but really put it all together vs Hillsborough last Thursday. He did a great job of pitching to both sides of the plate and changing speeds. We will need that type of stuff from our best guy for us to get back in to the thick of things in conference play" adds Head Coach Johnny Wiggs.
He currently leads the team with 22 strikeouts and is (2-2) on the mound while carrying a 6.00 ERA with 24 innings pitched. You can read more about this distinction here: https://thefcsaasports.com/general/2025-26/releases/February_24_2026_Notebook
