Santa Fe College Athletics announces the naming of the Brenda Wernz Dolwick Locker Room which will kickstart Santa Fe Athletics' locker room campaign to renovate and add locker room spaces for all five intercollegiate sports. This locker room will honor the mentoring, encouraging, and serving that she has done, and continues to do for all student athletes at Santa Fe College.

Named in honor of Brenda Wernz Dolwick, the locker room will serve as a place for current and future Saints to spend their time relaxing, recovering, strategizing for their next opponent, preparing for a game, and so much more.

With a recognition between the third and fourth quarter of Santa Fe's Women's Basketball game on February 18th, friends, family, and members of the community came together to officially announce and celebrate the Brenda Wernz Dolwick Locker Room that will be coming to Santa Fe Athletics in the summer of 2026.

"Brenda is one of the sweetest, kindest, and most gentle person I've ever met, and all of us who know her can agree with that" her husband Dr. Melvin Franklin Dolwick mentions.

Ms. Brenda Wernz Dolwick is a person who continues to show her kindness and compassion not just for Santa Fe College student athletes, but community members, friends, family, and all of those who are lucky enough to meet her.

"You so remind me of what a coach does, you serve… and you don't know how much this will impact the lives of our young ladies" adds Women's Basketball Head Coach David Lowery.

This space will certainly boost team comradery, provide a dedicated space for student athletes specific to their sport, and provide a state-of-the-art locker room that caters to all team activities and functions.

Brenda is an active member of the Gainesville community often giving back in numerous ways including serving at a local hospice facility and within her church, Covenant Church.

"The way Brenda serves people, checks on them, and meets them where they are --- makes a difference.  I am so thankful to have benefited from her investment in people, now others too will benefit from her generosity of time and money," stated Athletic Director Chanda Stebbins.

The Saints are actively seeking two more donors for the same renovations in the men's basketball and volleyball locker rooms.  Also, plans for building locker rooms out at the baseball and softball fields are moving in the right direction.
