Taylor Hackett honored at the 19th annual FCA Heart of Champions Banquet
Gainesville, FL
Taylor Hackett of Santa Fe Women's Basketball was honored at the 19th annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes Heart of Champions Banquet. Held at Greenhouse Church, the event brought together FCA committee and board members, volunteers, coaches, and student-athletes from across North Central Florida. Each year, the banquet recognizes outstanding student-athletes who embody the core pillars of FCA. The evening also features a keynote speaker who shares an inspiring personal story. This year's speaker was former University of Florida and NBA player Patric Young, who is pictured above with Hackett.
During his time with the Gators from 2010 to 2014, Young earned All-SEC honors twice and was named SEC Defensive Player of the Year.
Chanda Stebbins, the former women's basketball head coach and current Athletic Director at Santa Fe College, praised Hackett's recognition, saying, "Taylor is a great selection for the FCA Heart of Champions. She led SF Women's Basketball well this past year, and her character shined through."
FCA officials recognize high school student-athletes, as well as student-athletes from the University of Florida and Santa Fe College, who exemplify the Heart of a Champion through the core values of integrity, service, teamwork, and excellence. The award honors individuals who inspire others through their commitment both on and off the field or court, while reflecting the highest standards of sportsmanship, perseverance, and character.
At Santa Fe, Hackett stands as a clear example of those qualities. Her leadership, character, and dedication made her a deserving choice for this year's recognition.
Recipients of the Heart of a Champion Award are celebrated not only for their athletic accomplishments, but also for the positive influence they have on their teams, campuses, and communities. They serve as examples of faith, strength, and determination, showing how athletics can be a platform for leadership and service. The award also highlights the important role faith can play in shaping a well-rounded and impactful student-athlete.
Previous Santa Fe College recipients of the award include Kelli Cunningham in 2023, Joshua Watkins in 2024, and Kailyn Howard in 2025.
