Stephen Joyce is this week's Tuesday Teammate of the Week!
Joyce is a right-handed pitcher for the Saints' baseball team, hailing from Fort Lauderdale, FL. Joyce brought an accomplished high school resume with him to Santa Fe, earning a District 15 5A Player of the Year nod and multiple first-team honors from his local media. Following an impressive high school career, Joyce found the right fit with Santa Fe in the 2024-25 season, immediately earning a role in the bullpen rotation.
After an impressive rookie year that saw him record 39 strikeouts in 40.1 innings pitching, Joyce improved from a 2-3 record in 2024-25 to a 3-0 record in 2025-26. His most impressive performance of the season came on March 7th against the College of Central Florida, in which he pitched 4.2 innings of relief, struck out 6 batters, and was credited with his first win of the season. Across 17 appearances and 35.2 innings pitched, Joyce continued to maintain the role he earned as a freshman as one of Coach Wiggs' most trusted options in the bullpen.
When off the ballfield, Joyce is a stellar student and very well-respected. Since joining Santa Fe in the Fall of 2024, Joyce has earned All-Saints Academic Team honors each semester. Given his hard work in the classroom and baseball background, Joyce aspires to major in Sports Management. He has a reputation as a supportive teammate, always looking to do the right thing for himself and for everyone around him.
UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine sponsors a "Teammate of the Week" selection from all five Santa Fe Saints sports teams. The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), the SF sport specific coaches, and the athletic director nominate deserving Saints for this weekly award. Teammates of the week will embody the character qualities the SAINTS (Seek, Aware, Integrity, Noble-Minded, Thankful, and Safe) emphasize and value. SF Student-Athletes who impact their team, community, classmates, and families for the better are the best candidates for this weekly award hosted by proud SF partner UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
