Sydney English is this week's Tuesday Teammate of the Week!
Sydney English finished her second year with Santa Fe Softball in 2026. From Callahan, Florida, English saw the most time behind the plate, but also as the designated player as she started in al 65 of the Saints games this season.
Compared to her first year, English earned an everyday starting role, playing in 40 more games, recording 58 more hits, 38 more RBIs, and increased her batting average from .236 to .378. She earned First-Team All-Citrus Conference North honors as well as Second Team All-FCSAA honors. Alongside her teammates, English's stellar efforts helped Santa Fe Softball to earn their first NJCAA DI Softball World Series bid since 2013.
On top of her athletic performance, English has proved herself as one of Santa Fe's most academically accomplished. In every semester with Santa Fe, English was recognized with All-Saints Academic Team honors. In the 2024-25 school year, she also took home an FCSAA Academic All-State award.
English is known for being a role-model athlete at Santa Fe. She carries a positive spirit both on and off the field, always looking to encourage those around her and build up her teammates. She is supportive to her teammates and is always helpful throughout the department.
UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine sponsors a "Teammate of the Week" selection from all five Santa Fe Saints sports teams. The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), the SF sport specific coaches, and the athletic director nominate deserving Saints for this weekly award. Teammates of the week will embody the character qualities the SAINTS (Seek, Aware, Integrity, Noble-Minded, Thankful, and Safe) emphasize and value. SF Student-Athletes who impact their team, community, classmates, and families for the better are the best candidates for this weekly award hosted by proud SF partner UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
