Samuel Castillo is this week's Tuesday Teammate of the Week!
Samuel Castillo finished his first year with Santa Fe Baseball in 2026. From Valencia, Florida, Castillo saw most of his time in the outfield this season, showing off his speed and versatility in the Saints outfield.
Castillo his .236 through 41 games with the Saints, collecting 25 hits and 16 RBI while drawing a total of 32 walks. His OBP inflated to .423 as he added 4 extra base hits to his resume. As a primary outfielder, Castillo fielded a perfect 1.000 with 57 putouts and one assist. He made some crucial catches to help keep runs off the board.
Castillo was named on the Spring 2026 All-Saints Academic Team and is majoring in Radiography. Throughout the course of the year, Castillo stood out as a leader and positive teammate by the department and his coaching staff. He was always thankful to his teammates and was a great role model for his peers.
UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine sponsors a "Teammate of the Week" selection from all five Santa Fe Saints sports teams. The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), the SF sport specific coaches, and the athletic director nominate deserving Saints for this weekly award. Teammates of the week will embody the character qualities the SAINTS (Seek, Aware, Integrity, Noble-Minded, Thankful, and Safe) emphasize and value.
