Baseball Summer All-Stars
Chase, Wright, Nimmala, Howell, Clanton named All-Stars
Gainesville, FL
Ryan Chase and Brady Wright have been named All-Stars for their mid-season performances in Northwoods League play this summer. The former Saints joined the Wausau Woodchucks as teammates once again, and are cementing themselves as some of the league's top stars.
After a phenomenal sophomore season at Santa Fe, Ryan Chase brought his star power to the Woodchucks for summer baseball. At the midseason point, Chase holds strong with a .310 average and a .901 slugging percentage. He has 29 RBIs and 40 hits, drawing 27 walks. Chase's standout day against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on June 6th demonstrated his proficiency in each category: he went 3-5 with 6 RBIs, and notched a home run that was instrumental to a 29-2 rout.
Meanwhile, Wright has been making noise as one of Northwoods' most dominant pitchers. Pitching in relief, Wright currently stands undefeated at a 5-0 record, atop all pitchers with the most wins in the league. Wright has coupled his standout win record with a 2.36 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 26.2 innings pitched. Across his 10 games, Wright has posted at least 3 strikeouts in 7 games, as well as allowing no runs in another 6.
In the Florida Collegiate Summer League, three Saints have similarly earned All-Star Honors. For his performance at first base with the DeLand Suns, Akhil Nimmala was named as a starter for the East, ranking top-10 in hits (22) and doubles (5). In the West, Kaden Howell and Caleb Clanton were named as a reserve and alternate, respectively. Howell has notched a dominant 1.37 ERA and 35 strikeouts, while Clanton has posted a 4.00 ERA alongside 18 strikeouts and 2 saves.
