Staszak Commits to Mercer
RHP Nick Staszak has committed to Mercer University
Gainesville, FL
Sophomore pitcher Nick Staszak has committed to Mercer University to continue his academic and playing careers. The 6'5" right-handed pitcher is from Estero, Florida and attended Estero High School before enrolling at Santa Fe.
Staszak appeared in 15 games for the Saints this season, starting in 7 of them and ended the season with a 2-3 record over 36 innings pitched. Staszak was used as a flexible arm as part of Wiggs pitching rotation, as he showed the ability to throw quality starts as well as come out of the bullpen and pitch whatever was needed in relief. Staszak struck out 33 batters total and saw his K/9 rate rise from 6.94 to 8.25 from 2024 to 2025.
He now will be joining a Mercer Bears team who went 35-25 last season, including a win over #5 Florida State University. The Bears will look to continue their Southern Conference success and make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019.
