Santa Fe takes game three and splits Saturday doubleheader with Gulf Coast State

Santa Fe splits DH with Gulf Coast State College on Saturday at Santa Fe College. They fell in the first game 10-5 but came out on top in the second game 7-4. They go (1-2) on the year
Game 1, 10-5 loss
Gulf Coast State College got on the board in the first inning after Davis Avera doubled, scoring one run then added to their early lead in the top of the third inning when an error scored one run, Avera singled, scoring another run, and a passed ball scored two runs.
Santa Fe Saints scored five runs on two hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Matt Hall was hit by a pitch, driving in a run, Connor Brown singled, scoring one run, Cole Carnell drew a walk, scoring one run, and Tucker Hansen singled, scoring two runs. The five run innings gme the Saints some life however they were unable to break through again and dropped the first game of the doubleheader 10-5.
Donovan Rabiei earned the win for Gulf Coast State College. The hurler gave up two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out three and walking two. Kolten Leach took the loss for Santa Fe. He went four innings, surrendering eight runs (one earned) on seven hits, striking out one and walking one.
Hansen led Santa Fe Saints with two runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-2 on the day. Hansen, Noah Hayse, Hall, Brown, and Peyton Brenneman each collected one hit for the Saints.
Game 2, 7-4 win
Game two was a much different story; heres how it went:
GCSC got on the board in the top of the second inning after Rayce Griffin doubled to left field, and Carson Zagryn hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. A Davis Avera solo home run to left field in the top of the fifth gave the Commodores a 3-1 lead.
Santa Fe responded in the bottom of the fifth when a passed ball scored one run, and Maddox Lee singled, scoring two runs that capped a three run inning.
Ben Monger earned the win for Santa Fe Saints. He allowed two hits and one run over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking none. Demetrius Hardnett took the loss for Gulf Coast State College. The pitcher went two innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on six hits, striking out two and walking two. Easton McMahan started the game for Santa Fe. The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and two runs over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one. Caleb Clanton threw one inning of zero-run ball for Santa Fe Saints in relief. The hurler surrendered zero hits, striking out none and walking none.
Santa Fe tallied 15 hits in the game. Lee led Santa Fe with three runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. James Suarez, Ethan Monrad, Ryan Chase, Cole Carnell, Lee, J.P. Espinosa, and Peyton Brenneman each collected two hits.
Santa Fe welcomes South Georgia State College on Tuesday for a doubleheader at 12:00 and 2:00pm.
