Saints bested in game one
Santa Fe drops 8-4 game to CF

Santa Fe Saints could not keep up with College of Central Florida 8-4 on Thursday. CF got on the board in the second inning after Correa hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Shawn Andrade homered to left field on a full count, which helped Santa Fe tie the game at one in the bottom of the second. An error gave Santa Fe the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the third.
Martinez singled to right field, which helped CF tie the game at two in the top of the fourth.
A wild pitch gave Santa Fe Saints the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the fifth, but CF took the lead in the top of the sixth inning after Salaverria grounded into a double play, and Piros singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Akhil Nimmala singled to center field, which helped the Saints tie the game at four in the bottom of the sixth.
In the top of the eighth, the Pats broke up the tie when Piros grounded out, scoring one run; a sacrifice fly by Mendoza followed to extend the lead to 6-4.
Brady Wright pitched three and one-third innings in relief for Santa Fe. The pitcher allowed three hits and two runs while, striking out five and walking five. Caleb Clanton led things off on the mound, giving up three hits and one run over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking four.
The Saints were outhit 15-8 and although dropped the game by four runs, were in it for the majority of the afternoon.
Santa fe will make the short trip to Ocala on Saturday for a doubleheader vs the Pats. First pitch is slated for 12:00pm.
