Shawn Andrade has signed to Mercer University to continue his athletic and academic journey. Andrade is from St. Johns, FL, and spent time playing at St. Johns Country Day School and the University of South Florida before playing one year for Santa Fe in 2026. Academically, Andrade intends to major in criminology.
As an infielder, Andrade had a successful 2026 year. Andrade was one of the Saints' most reliable hitters, batting .319 with 2 home runs and 14 extra base hits. Defensively, Andrade was a great middle infielder totaling 67 putouts and 69 assists on the season. He put on a show against St. Petersburg College, going 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs and 2 doubles and fielding all 9 chances with 5 putouts.
In the classroom, Andrade was stellar. He earned All-Saints Academic Team honors in both semesters. Between his strong record both on and off the field, Andrade will be a sure bet to continue building his future at the NCAA level.
Andrade will be taking his talents to Macon, Georgia as a member of the Mercer Bears' baseball program. The Bears posted a strong record of 44-15 in 2026 season, before falling in the Southern Conference Tournament. Andrade will join a strong baseball team under head coach Craig Gibson, who in his 22 seasons has helped send 34 players to the MLB. Under Gibson, Andrade will have a chance to be one of the next.
